Maybe for the same reason pictures of food in restaurants always look so much better than what is on your plate. It is to get you interested enough to try it.

I use a current picture at a social networking site.
Not looking for love — just friends.

Perhaps – those people feel they need to put
their best food forward – even if it’s an old foot.

It's a stupid move. Just about as stupid as guys who post 10-year-old pictures of themselves with less belly and more hair. And guys who lie about their height (i.e., 5'6" guys who say they are 5'9").

Having once been on a dating site myself, I heard that comment from many men. I guess it’s because they still wished they looked like they did ten or more years ago. I find it deceiving to post such pictures. There a woman is, looking for someone to date & she can’t be honest from the get go? Doesn’t she realize that the truth will come out once they meet, that is if they ever do? Men were also good at posting their graduation photos from the 50′s & 60′s, & the current year was 2004. That sent up red flags right away! What were they hiding?

You could ask yourself if you would have met these women if you had seen a current realistic photo of them on the web site? If the answer is ‘no’ therein lies an answer to your question.

Women think that once you meet them they will win you over with their charm and personality.
